Asset Management System

Asset Management System

An Asset Management System is integrated solution of hardware and software used to monitor the location, status, and maintenance of physical or digital items in real-time. Unlike inventory management, which focuses on quantities of consumables, asset tracking manages individual, high-value items throughout organization’s entire lifecycle.

An asset tracking system uses technologies like Barcodes, RFID, GPS etc. to monitor physical assets throughout lifecycle, providing real-time location, usage, and condition data via central software to reduce loss, improve efficiency, and automate management. The core components are tags (barcodes, RFID, GPS) readers/scanners, and software that stores data (location, history, maintenance) and generates insights.

Tagging: Unique identifiers attached to each asset, like Barcodes, QR Codes, RFID tags, GPS trackers.

Data Capture: Scanner scan Barcode as assets move or are located, capture data from barcode, collecting data like location and time.

Data Transmission: Captured data is sent to the asset tracking software.

Software Platform: A central database (cloud) that receives, stores, and displays asset data, offering reports, analytics, and alerts. The software provides a dashboard for real-time tracking, history, and status updates, accessible on web or mobile.
